Vic: Priest jailed for indecent assault

MELBOURNE, Feb 21 AAP - A "truly wicked" Catholic priest was today jailed for molesting
an altar boy almost a quarter of a century ago.

Father Terence Melville Pidoto, 56, was sentenced to three years with a minimum term
of 18 months for offences against a 10-year-old after being convicted on four counts of
indecent assault.

The court was told that Fr Pidoto, no longer a practising priest, assaulted the boy
between January 1977 and July 1988, at Kilmore, north of Melbourne, after he took advantage
of the boy's devout mother.
