NSW: One man found dead, another injured in Newcastle townhouse

SYDNEY, Aug 10 AAP - A man has been discovered dead and another man found lying nearby
with serious injuries in a Newcastle townhouse.

A neighbour went to the house in Maitland Road in Mayfield, suburban Newcastle, about
6.30am today and found the body of a 33-year-old man, police said.

A 27-year-old man was found lying nearby, suffering serious head injuries.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where he was undergoing surgery.

Police want to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity in
the area of Maitland Rd, which is behind a hotel, between 4.30am and 6.30am.
